20 years ago, our 500,000 volunteers selflessly donated their biological samples & health data to us. Soon we can apply to add their coded, de-identified GP data to our database so researchers can study the full spectrum of disease 📰 Statement here: ow.ly/IV3f50TE6Gh

Elated. The ability to link coded GP records with omics data in secure TREs from consented @uk_biobank participants is a huge game changer for #pharmacogenomics #PGx Thank you @wesstreeting and countless others for unlocking the full potential of this precious national resource

NEW PAPER It's not all about residual confounding. Hopefully this paper gives a little pushback to discussion sections that only mention uncontrolled residual confounding as a potential limitation of the study and some suggestions to improve analyses academic.oup.com/aje/advance…

This is a critical point. Drug target MR investigations should use genetic variants in biologically-relevant gene regions that mimic the intervention of interest. Not genetic variants that predict drug prescription or drug usage.
More MR studies on drug effects are coming out. We cannot use genetic variants associated with drug intake behaviors as instrumental variables. Why? Please read our letter in @Gut_BMJ. gut.bmj.com/content/early/20…
