The "electric cars are not it, trains are the way" crowd is great...I love it.
But I also see a smattering of "Fuck Joe Biden" in it. Like, "Why is the president pushing for electric cars and not trains?!?!" and, I dunno, y'all. Have you considered the 100 trillion dollars of car-necessary infrastructure we have built in the US? We built the ideology into every dollar we spent for the last 100 years. It's built into the landscape, it's built into people's brains.
"You shouldn't have a car" is a good position to have if you want to get in fights on Twitter with the 90% of American adults who cannot imagine life without a car. That's not their fault, we built the cities this way, and they aren't going to get unbuilt.
We need to get off fossil fuels /now/. If your first step is "we must convince America to abandon suburbs... through force if necessary" the outcomes will be worse.
