WATCH: Full press conference of Hennepin County law enforcement leaders speaking out against Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty's decision to NOT prosecute felony cases that stem from low-level traffic stops, a move House Democrats support.
"In May, our deputies made a traffic stop for illegal window tint in Minneapolis. The two occupants were wearing ski masks and gloves. A 9 millimeter handgun that was modified to be fully automatic was found during that traffic stop. Through our investigation, we discovered the firearm was connected to a shooting in Minneapolis and a homicide in Robbinsdale."
"On this topic, we weren't included in the discussion... It caught us off guard."
"Criminals say it to us every day: 'you're not supposed to chase us. You're not supposed to pull us over.' Criminals are paying attention. This will put more lives at risk. The county attorney is prioritizing offenders over public safety."
