"Canada, Land of Refuge: Polish Orphans of Tengeru and the 85th Anniversary of the Deportations to Siberia"
Join us for an event exploring the powerful story of Polish orphans who survived Soviet deportations and, thanks to the help of the people of Tanzania and the United Kingdom, found a new home in Canada.
Organized by the Canadian Polish Club and hosted by Library and Archives Canada
@LibraryArchives, the program will feature a presentation by the Centre for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements of the University of the Commission of National Education in Krakow, Poland; Tengeru orphans sharing their experiences; a film presentation; and opportunities for community networking.
Special guests H.E. Joseph Edward Sokoine, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Canada
@UbaloziCanada, and
@DaveProdgerFCO, British Deputy High Commissioner to Canada, will join H.E.
@WitoldDzielski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Canada, in one of the roundtable discussions.
