But to check the abuses of an unrestrained executive. We cannot abdicate that duty. The Senate Majority Leader must choose country over party, summon the Senate back into session, and confront this crisis before it spirals further.

President Trump’s statement that a "whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" speaks to genocide. Should the President carry out his threats, he will be committing war crimes on a mass scale. Listening to the President these last few days should make all Americans deeply concerned about his state of mind. The President’s cabinet should take notice. The Speaker of the House must immediately call the House back into session. Congress must stop this President from committing these atrocities.

A war powers resolution will not be enough. Yes. We need to assert congressional authority and stop this illegal war in Iran. But, Trump is clearly an unstable warmonger at odds with the will of the people. Removal is the top priority. No more war criminal in the White House.
