We had an amazing Cadaver Lab earlier this week. From hernia repairs and thyroidectomies to complex GI, our residents did it all. We even had a cameo from Ds. Lee and Sgroi from vascular. (They put the "fun" in profunda!)

🩺 Research from @MarcMelcherMD, @KazuS123456789s, and Carlos Esquivel finds that liver transplants from HCV-positive donors show no difference in 5-year survival for HCV-negative recipients. These grafts could expand the donor pool. @LTxJournal 🔗: journals.lww.com/lt/fulltext…

We argue for 3 changes needed for a more fair, transparent efficient residency application : 1⃣Reinstitute USMLE Step 1 exam scores in some form 2⃣Retain multiple categories for grading medical school academic performance 3⃣Limit # of research experiences that can be disclosed

While there has been a recent increase in the number of organ donors, the uptick has been unable to match the growing need for transplant organs. New techniques to recover, preserve, and rehabilitate organs can help close the gap between supply and demand. brnw.ch/21wJ0Kb
