On a day with negative prices (the middle chunk), interesting to see the inverter set an export limit and curtail that rooftop solar. System balancing benefit of exposing consumers to hourly price shape.

The creator of Linux just publicly called out the AI hype. Word for word. Linus Torvalds took the stage at Open Source Summit 2026 and said this: "When I see people saying 99% of our code is written by AI, I literally get angry. Because those same people — I can pretty much guarantee — 100% of their code is written by compilers. But they never say that." He is not anti AI. The Linux kernel saw a 20% jump in submissions this release because of AI tools. He uses it. He gets it. His point is something most people are too afraid to say. AI is a productivity tool exactly like compilers were. Compilers boosted programming by 1000x. AI adds another 10x on top. Enormous. But nobody says "the compiler wrote my code." So why are we saying AI wrote it? He also flagged something nobody is talking about. AI is flooding small open source projects with drive-by bug reports. Someone runs a prompt, files a report and disappears when asked for a patch. Maintainers with one or two people are drowning trying to keep up. "Sometimes AI reports a bug and when you ask for more information the person has done that drive-by and does not even answer your question. That is the real burnout issue." And his final warning was the sharpest of all. "People who do not understand the complexity of systems will prompt systems and write processes that will fail." The AI hype crowd is very loud right now. Linus has been building real systems for 35 years. When he talks, engineers listen. Full interview here: thenewstack.io/torvalds-ai-p…

Britain’s electricity system recorded its lowest ever transmission demand today: 12.62GW between 13:00–13:30. Sunny weather, high solar generation and the bank holiday weekend all contributed to the lower level seen on the network. ☀️ The system operated securely throughout.

Australia NEM battery revenues fell 38% year-on-year in Oct 2025-Mar 2026. Capacity grew 2.7x while coal and gas prices fell. Batteries now set peak prices twice as often, cannibalising their own margin. Duration is becoming the only lever holding project value.

Belgium plans to nationalize all the country's nuclear power reactors, and says that plans to decommission the plants are now "halted with immediate effect."

Wow!!
This is truly mind-blowing: Norway has gone from near-zero sales of non‑emitting battery electric vehicles to now close to 100% of all new passenger car sales - achieved in about 13 years. More in my next substack newsletter. Sign up here: substack.com/@janrosenow

Imagine getting in a time machine and going back to 1776 and telling the Founding Fathers that the King would one day be reminding America about the importance of democracy and our checks and balances. That is the timeline we’re living in.

The trajectory of battery prices is insane. Radically different economics now compared to a decade ago. And they benefit every electricity generating technology.
In 2025, battery prices fell 45% as global storage deployment rose 46% to ~250 GWh 🔋 That’s already enough to shift 14% of new solar generation across the day, improving system flexibility ⚡ ember-energy.org/latest-insi…

It was impressive that King Charles talked to Congress about the importance of holding an over mighty executive in check, the need for an environmental agenda, the imperative of supporting Ukraine and NATO and also why there must be understanding between different faiths - and he was given standing ovations for all of it. Not exactly Trump’s agenda. Chapeau

Excellent speech by King Charles. So good to hear the clarion cry for Ukraine, for NATO, for nature and the environment, for democracy and the checks on power. JFK mentioned more than Trump. Starmer directly quoted. Europe mentioned several times. Vance looked ill. I loved it. Loved the confidence in British and European values

Credit: NASA
詳しくは記事をご覧ください: astropics.bookbright.co.jp/a… Credit: NASA
