ALT Let's be clear: The US Department Of Justice is pursuing an extremist and hateful agenda. It’s wrongfully prosecuting judges and members of Congress to stifle dissent, crush our most basic freedoms, and clear the way for mass deportations. Essayli’s anti-immigrant trolling fits right in. And this week’s announcement is part and parcel of this cruel agenda. Many people are surprised to learn that the law Essayli is invoking here was passed by an openly white supremacist Senator in the 1920’s. It’s also important to understand that Essayli is trying to disappear people who’ve been arrested by local police into Trump’s mass deportation dragnet, before a judge can even consider the local charges they’ve been arrested on. We strongly oppose this policy. And we also know that our state & local sanctuary policies have and will continue to prevent many thousands of deportations, improve public safety, & keep families together.
