Dokken Album Ranking from Worst to Best #3: Back For The Attack (1987) Now we’ve gotten to the HEART of this countdown, haven’t we?😂 Many would have this as their #1 and I would TOTALLY get it! I certainly see this album as the culmination of all the albums that came before it. Combining Heavy Metal with smooth AS FUCK vocals and INSANELY infectious hooks! The main reason why this album isn’t higher is because for me, I feel like the guitars lost a little TOO much heaviness. There isn’t as much HEFT on this as previous albums. Now, the songwriting definitely makes up for it. I just think a few of these songs could be EVEN BETTER if they were a little heavier. Now I will say, this album starts off SO PERFECT! ‘Kiss Of Death’ MIGHT be Dokken’s greats opener! I may have some arguments on that, but I can see why some would say that!😂 Songs like ‘Prisoner’ and ‘Night By Night’ prove JUST HOW amazing this band is at writing hooks! SO CATCHY! Now don’t be mad…but I think this album takes a SLIGHT dip in the middle. I’m not head over heels for songs like ‘Heaven Sent’, ‘So Many Tears’ and ‘Burning LikeA Flame’. They’re good songs, just not ones I go back to very often. I go back to ‘Mr. Scary’ WAY more than those songs. Then comes maybe my FAVORITE on the album with ‘Lost Behind The Wall’! BEST chorus on the whole album! ‘Cry Of The Gypsy’ and ‘Sleepless Nights’ are really good too! And of course the song that’s too loud for Freddie Kruger with ‘Dream Warriors’😂 Can’t be a Dokken fan and NOT like that song😂 Overall, this is a FANTASTIC album and of course a staple of the genre! I don’t think it’s perfect, but the best songs on here are WHY this ranks as high as it does! It took SO MUCH for me to rank these last three albums…so don’t be calling for my head because this is ranked 3rd😂 These last three could easily be ranked 1A, 1B and 1C…
