"LifeTime has brought together scientists across fields – from biologists, to clinicians, data scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and physicists – to enable a much improved understanding of molecular mechanisms driving health and disease."
I am super stoked 🥳 to have been part of this awesome work from Weit-ting Chen (first) and Bart de Strooper (last) and many others. It just come out, folks, check it out. 😍
1/ Really happy to see this story out online! Kudos to the entire team: Wei-Ting Chen, Ashley Lu, Mark Fiers and many others involved, including @BioImagingCore@cartanabio@scilifelab@riken_en
8/ Our data demonstrate that amyloid plaques are not innocent bystanders of the disease, as has been sometimes suggested, but in fact induce a strong and coordinated response of all surrounding cell types.
9/ Further work is needed to understand whether, and when, removal of amyloid plaques—for instance by antibody therapy—would be sufficient to reverse these ongoing cellular processes.
We are looking for a postdoc to use spatial transcriptomics, in situ sequencing, and multiplexed proteomics to untangle the cellular response to #amyloid plaques and tangles in brains affected by or resilient to #Alzheimer’s disease. jobso.id/cp7x
New preprint out De Strooper lab at @CBD_VIB with @VE_ZSU from our lab on how impaired adult hippocampal neurogenesis in Alzheimer’s disease is mediated by microRNA-132 deficiency and can be restored by microRNA-132 replacement #alzheimersdiseasebiorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Last day to submit your abstract for #BrainMosaic19: the best place to present your single-cell data in neuroscience. Exciting keynote lectures and many other excellent speakers! bit.ly/BRMO19#VIBconf @CBD_VIB
Saying goodbye to Amaia and @HeatherRicePhD. You will both be missed but it will be great to see you spread your wings and set up your own labs in Spain and the US!
Heading to #AAIC19 next month? Be sure to catch UK DRI Director, Bart De Strooper's Plenary (Cellular phase of Alzheimer's disease) on Wed 17 July. Bart gives a sneak preview in this Q&A: bit.ly/2xctu4K
