This is so messed up.
WIC is one of the most important parts of our national safety net. It's a program for pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women and children under five, providing healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals.
It helps low-income families afford healthy food during pregnancy and early childhood, which is when good nutrition is most essential.
The estimated cut is almost $150 million to fruit-and-vegetable vouchers. This is warfare against toddlers, preschoolers, pregnant women, and postpartum parents enrolled in the program.
