🌍 Public health leaders, policymakers and diplomats gathered in New Delhi on 14 May 2026 to celebrate Bridging Boundaries: Memoirs of a Public Health Journey by Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh. 📘 They reflected on Dr Singh’s journey from the Indian Administrative Service to becoming the first woman elected WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia. 👏🏽 🗣️ Dr Catharina Boehme, Officer-in-Charge, WHO South-East Asia Region, described the memoir as a reflection of “an extraordinary professional journey” and a legacy of leadership that has shaped public health across the Region and beyond. 🌏 She highlighted Dr Singh’s role in advancing disease elimination, emergency preparedness and regional collaboration, while strengthening South-East Asia’s voice in global health. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 🌟 Distinguished speakers including veteran administrator Mr N.N. Vohra, former Union Health Minister of India Dr Harsh Vardhan, public health experts Dr Vinod Kumar Paul, Dr Viroj Tangcharoensathien from Thailand, and Dechen Wangmo, former Health Minister pf Bhutan, who shared reflections on Dr Singh’s leadership, diplomacy and lasting contributions to public health.
