youtu.be/tdNtSIvfcms I'm so bad at self promo lmao, completely forgot to mention I made this. Mastered by hiatus, I wrote (ironically) this inspired by the rise in fascism and the sheer cruelty that I see every fucking day towards trans people specially. I'm proud of it.

Say what you want about the movie, I do think it's incredible that they wrote a genuinely great modern Steve Roach inspired downtempo/ambient track for Backrooms and it's just kinda casually there in the soundtrack. youtu.be/ZeLFH2KhcNE

The thing about "not developing every character" is that stories need focus to be Stories. There will be a principle focus, theme, beat, while other things will have to be peripheral / supporting. If everything's given Equal Weight, then it's not really a story, but a simulation.

Harry Potter blew up as much as it did because it fit the School-Life SOL Adventure Shonen appeal the youth craved, while all the Anime/Manga that would have scratched the same itch was suppressed or ignored by western publishers.

There's so much contempt for people finding a piece of art interesting enough to try to engage with it seriously, and I think that's really odd.

I remember seeing someone making a video essay where it explains how bear is really the villain as if just by reading the premise and watching the trailer didn’t make that obvious

No it isn't?
Obsession is a good horror movie, but you can already see it attracting all the annoying intellectual media literacy "horror fans". You know the ones. Probably think Jordan Peele's movies are the peak of the genre for having "commentary" and everything else is just slop.

People often mistake importance with quality, and those 2 are different things. Also also, a lot of people really don't understand what art is fundamentally, and that's pretty sad. Worse yet that the most susceptible to this are the same elitists that pride themselves on taste.
It objectively is. It's both a piece of art and was important when it was made.

in my opinion the peak of covid psychosis was when lots of people went back to normal life in may 2020 got sick and died
the peak of covid psychosis was when people were convinced that a bo burnham musical comedy special was an important piece of art

Homeowners in Bellevue are raising concerns about noise from Sound Transit’s new 2 Line light rail trains operating on the elevated span between Mercer Island and Bellevue. Residents claim train noise has exceeded local standards and is disrupting nearby neighborhoods. A letter sent to Sound Transit alleges some trains have produced noise levels more than three times higher than surrounding vehicle traffic and above 80 decibels. Sound Transit confirmed it received the homeowners’ letter but said it could not comment because of potential legal issues and ongoing litigation concerns.

Unfortunately so. There are a handful of decent Radfems. Some I've seen on the platform are more loudly pro trans than the average libfem, even, but Radfem has become a term intrinsically linked to TERF.

Some aspects of this take are understandable. Others are absolutely insane to me. Like who watches obsession and things it's about a guy who finally managed to "pull" a girl and realizes she's not what he wants her to be?!?

I think most people who post that image are people frustrated with how certain film elitists engage or refuse to engage with media. Let's be honest here, the average "X beloved film is underrated" take is something along the lines of flattening the film and then calling it basic
Whenever someone uses this review as an “argument” you just know that you are about to deal with the most anti-intellectual nonsense ever.

I don't think it's common for people to post that in reply to someone having an insightful disagreeable take.

"Farmer protests" aren't from the actual people that grow your food, but people that own the land where your food is grown. Their employees grow that food, and those are usually seasonal or migrant farmhands without proper compensation. "Farmers" are really just rural landlords.

you categorizing a trans woman as a man (even a “former” man) under any context is blatantly incorrect and puts your internalized bigotry on display
