On the current discourse about Dark Souls being "inherently feminist and leftist":
Leftists engage in almost nothing but ideological power games since that is all they believe in. They engage in manipulation, and they hijack language to spread their ideology. Claiming a widespread piece of media like Dark Souls as leftist is just another part of the ideological game.
Doing so serves a two-fold purpose:
1. It reinforces the validity and legitimacy of the correctness of the ideology, to the broader world, and most importantly, to the ideological adherent themselves.
2. It helps spread the ideology to others by making the claim that the things you love to engage with are actually leftist, therefore aiding in convincing a non-adherent to change their mind.
Leftist ideologues have to do this. If it were the case that Dark Souls was not leftist in some form, and if it's also agreed that Dark Souls is basically a masterpiece and that it is good, then a leftist would have to contend with the reality that something that isn't leftist is good. An ideologue cannot live with this knowledge without having a serious internal struggle, far too painful for most of them to face. So, they play this kind of game instead.
