People who think "Freedom" is something the government creates with tyrannical power "in the right hands" to keep us safe. This is why we live in an increasingly regulatory dystopia, ruled by elitist self serving technocrats. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.
In the right hands C-22 is a powerful weapon against globalization..why? Because organized crime and extortion are foundational to globalization. Note that Apple, Meta and the others are no friends of the Canadian people or our Nation or freedom in general. Bill C-22 (Lawful Access Act 2026) aims to update police and CSIS access to digital information for investigations like organized crime and extortion by requiring electronic service providers to maintain technical capabilities for authorized data retrieval. Apple, Meta, Google, and privacy advocates criticize the bill for broad powers with limited judicial oversight, potential systemic security vulnerabilities, and risks of weakening encryption, with some firms signaling possible service withdrawal from Canada.

Technology either works for us or against us, and in the case of the latter, must be discarded regardless of sacrifice, else the sacrifice will be our own agency. Our tools, toys, and conveniences become our chains. ANY website that demands this on my desktop is dead to me. They deserve zero traffic, and zero attention. It is in our hands to fail these efforts, no one else is going to do it for us.
Google's update to reCAPTCHA requires a mobile device running iOS or Android, but alternative operating systems like GrapheneOS will not be able to complete verification. Google cites AI agents as the reason for this chance, but it really seems to be an attack on alt OSes.

The 'bet' is rigged. The hyperscalers don't care about AGI. Its a fantasy sales pitch for investors and consumers. The narrative provides for invocation of "national security" as an "arms race" allowing financial collusion with the government in the false economy, and eliminates any sensibility in management and allocation of the resources they are amassing. The means, utility, and access to compute, service, and communication will be defined and dictated by the oligopoly, and we will all be subscribers on our compliant terminals that we are gullible enough to pay for and think we own.
Am I right that hyperscaling compute is the biggest bet in history? Any counter examples? It’s way more expensive than the Manhattan Project, the Apollo project, and railways across the US. If it doesn’t yield AGI, it may also be the biggest failed bet in history.

Resistance is *NOT* futile. Their initiative averted another careless technophile experiment with unknown consequence for the futures of real humans. With that in the balance, the burden for proof for outcome is prerequisite, not post mortem. Resistance is imperative.

No tech entrepreneur or startup would even bother staying - let alone starting - in such an over-regulated thought-policing dystopia that Canada is now fast-tracked to become; Where both providers AND consumers will be paralysed from interacting and transacting freely. The only remaining "economy" will be "services" of the government, its corporatist monopolies, and brown-shirt business models based on enforcing the tyranny of keeping us "safe" from ourselves and from communicating freely with each other and the outside world. They will need to force UBI - not because of AI displacement - but because the only employment in such a hamstrung economy will be to serve the communist technocracy of our open prison called "Canada", and the only free market will be the black market. When the benefit of technology is abused against our interest it becomes a liability and should rather be enthusiastically and defiantly rejected and discarded, or circumvented, even at peril of consequence.

Beware the pathological proponents of righteous reason and delusional diligence, selectively interpreting contexts as impropriety to elevate themselves as saviors. Often motivated to satiate their envious rage by undermining the successful collaborative endeavors of others. Friends are those who care about our well being, who celebrate our success, and who stand with us in its pursuit. Let no one divide us.

Matt's post gives a great perspective to start the day with; The superposition of; "It wasn't fun..." and "...there's nothing I'd rather be doing" is a beautiful thing to experience. Life is to be alive!

I really enjoy winter mostly, but it does come with its own set of challenges. Chipping away at the last bit of corn frozen to the wet bin walls, for a while, in the dark early this morning was not the most fun, but when I climbed out for a break and looked toward the east, I knew right away again there’s nothing I’d rather be doing.

Worth every second spent in those 8 days! Here is another medium of Art that I appreciate a great deal. Imagine thinking through each detail in that image, getting it just right, fitting with the context. Even the most minute thing is part of the intent, and a genuine part of the expression. In contrast imagine typing a prompt, and calling it a creation, when the "creator" has distant if any awareness or intent behind such details. How and Why things are made, and the experience in making them is the distinction between expression and eye candy or decoration.
