The same is true of Vancouver. People are always telling me theyโre โfrom Vancouverโ when they werenโt in fact born in Vancouver, but moved there like ten years ago, and usually actually live in, like, Coquitlam. You are only from Vancouver if you were born in Vancouver (and no, the suburbs donโt count). (Also, ftr, I can always tell when people who say theyโre from Vancouver are not actually from Vancouver.)
