Anyone that has spent 30 minutes with Ben immediately realizes he’s rare and intense in the best way possible. Congrats!
Ten years ago I was building factories. Today I'm building the tools I wish I had inside them. @TenkaraAI raised $7M led by @trueventures.

Last month we hosted our first Orbit dinner, the start of a monthly series. Orbit is built around a simple idea, we meet 100s of people in the startups world, rarely do we slow down long enough to really know them. These dinners are setup to be a long-form space with people I hand select for how they think. We host Orbit on the first Thursday of every month. If you’re ambitious and want to join us on March 5th in SF DM me h/t @risashimmura @thecollectiv3e

I think @sesame has the best voice AI consumer product experience right now. I’ve tried a variety of products, including the LLM voice modes. This is, without a doubt, the most natural-sounding voice agent I’ve ever heard.

Swan-as-a-Service (SaaS)… different level of wealth

Replying to @ItzSuds
When you look at 100x next to 1,000x return it looks awfully small. 10x is 1% of the 1,000x return on a linear graph. 3x is so small that it looks close to zero. Mathematically the 3x return has about the same order of magnitude impact as the 0x. But to the people working at companies, there is a colossal difference. We’ve seen it all. From 0x to over 1,000x and we work pretty hard to avoid the 0x not because it has big impact to the fund. It has big impact to people’s lives. For founders 3x leads to life changing money. 10x is generational wealth. 100x is life changing money for the VC. 1,000x means founder is a billionaire (we’ve had 5 founders reach that level). 10,000x means the VC is a billionaire. That’s the rough math.

So much of doing good business comes down to courage...having a hard conversation, turning down prestige to find a higher hill, being willing to look genuinely dumb for a while to people you care about. Not all hard things are valuable but all valuable things are hard.

This piece is a must read, perfectly distills the investment process I’ve always practiced; I try to access underappreciated networks or verticals where there’s competition asymmetry. If you don’t come from traditional desirable venture networks, you have to find an angle!

Wrote a short piece from an LP angle on: - How Hummingbird and Compound, two funds on the opposite ends of the spectrum, both navigate market arbitrage - Why the generalist vs specialist debate is a red herring - How 'ideal' fund stage and entry points vary across markets - a Request for Funds with some ideas we're noodling on link in bio

Great summary of what VC entails

I’m thankful I got to make up a job where I read, write, invest, spend time with my family, go down whichever rabbit hole is pulling me in, and be the dumbest person in any conversation I’m in.

I also think the VC job boils down to a few fundamental building blocks. You keep having to solve how to allocate your time with ambitious people in your own way

This is arguably one of the best times to be a junior VC. Not necessarily because of the “AI platform shift” tbh🤷🏽‍♂️ I just think competitive dynamics right now underprice discipline, which compounds crazy overtime.

With the administration discussing ADHD and autism, it’s important to consider how pediatric care in the US should evolve. Startups can play a crucial role in this shift. dennygabriel.substack.com/p/…

We've been getting tons of great questions on the new Susa Fellows program. So, we decided to open up office hours for the next 2 days to answer questions about the program & application. Given the demand and folks working long hours on the weekdays, we'll be extending the application deadline for the first cycle to EOD Friday. Link to office hours and application below. ↓

Little did I know when I walked into Susa’s office for the first time last year that the way I thought about venture was about to change entirely. In the year I’ve spent with the firm including the first 6 months as a fellow I’ve continuously been blown away by the pace of learning on this team and how kind and thoughtful folks are. This year I’m excited to be leading the charge on our fellowship. We’re creating more resources for the program than ever before and if you’re a founder, operator, or student interested in scaling your personal checks and building alongside Susa feel free to DM me with any questions. Looking forward to meeting all of you soon :)

Huge Congrats to @khawajasn and the @ShinkeiSystems team! I’ve long admired this company and its mission. A few months ago, I wrote about them, and they’re absolutely crushing expectations.

We've raised $22M Series A to restore American food sovereignty.  Co-led by @foundersfund and @interlagoscap. One of our most important supply chains is broken. @ShinkeiSystems is here to fix it. 🧵
