This is appalling, dangerous for this dedicated brave journalist and very revealing of fascistic western Big Tech. Can we please stop relying on Large Learning Models for information (PS there is nothing intelligent about them so calling them AI is daft).
That's extremely awful and mendacious. @grok is making up falsehoods to smear me. I don't even have a Facebook account. There's nothing I did on Oct7th & I don't belong to any political party. This is deeply disturbing, not because of me, but because of the outright lies in it

Let's not even start with other intersections of exclusion. Publishing's idea of inclusion is flimsy at best

I fear Germany (and a lot of the ‘West’) is setting the stage for antisemitic mass violence. This explicit conflation of Israeli and Jewish by Spiegel just as many of Europe’s press and politicians begin to use the term genocide should worry all of us 1/2
Spiegel call the Israeli embassy in DC “the Jewish embassy”.

Enoch Powell in the ‘rivers of blood’ speech: ‘But while, to the immigrant, entry to this country was admission to privileges and opportunities, the impact upon the existing population was very different. For they found themselves made strangers in their own country.’
'We risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together.' Sir Keir Starmer announces measures which he says will help control the number of immigrants coming into the country to live and work.

Taken literally, ‘Island of Strangers’ is nonsensical. But symbolically it weaves Powellism, notions of belonging, and blood and soil nationalism into one phrase. And it further emboldens the racists.

I think it's a big mistake to accept the framing of 'island of strangers' and then argue about it. The implied notion of nation as family is insidious - it's not something we should be aiming for.
I talked to @EvanHD on @BBCPM about the immigration white paper - and how we talk about identity & integration

"The Nakba continues until today." 77 years ago today, Huda's father was one of more than 800,000 Palestinians forced from their homes when the state of Israel was created. Today, Huda's neighbours and community in Sheikh Jarrah are threatened with eviction by the Israeli authorities from the place they sought refuge after 1948. #NakbaDay77 #NakbaDay #Nakba

in these discipline policies, speaking in ‘correct grammar’, ‘standard English’, in ‘full sentences’ and not using ‘slang’ were perceived to be signs of well behaving children - whilst the opposite was true for badly behaved children. these are ideological, not empirical links.
what does ‘misbehaviour’ sound like? in new open access work i ask this question in the context of school discipline policies, looking at how ideologies of ‘im/proper language’ and ‘im/proper behaviour’ coalesce and get co-constructed with one another. doi.org/10.1080/09620214.202…

Short 🧵For 20 months now, we have borne witness to the livestreamed genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. We must talk of the moral injury caused by bearing witness (links in replies). But we should note that people who are looking away and silent will bear greater moral injury
