Alex Phillips served as Nathan Gill's media advisor during his time as a UKIP MEP and Welsh Assembly member, continuing in that role after leaving UKIP in 2016 when Gill became an independent. They were colleagues as Brexit Party MEPs from 2019-2020. Gill was convicted of bribery in 2025 for pro-Russian activities and sentenced to 10.5 years.
