I'm back at the Roman Bathhouse site at @carlislecricket Club with @CarlisleCC and @WA_LLP !! They've only been digging for two hours but look! The metal detectorists already found Roman coins and the diggers found a hair pin fragment! Happy times!!

Week 1 day 3 for the dig at Gueswick Hills and @Altogether_Arch Trench 4 saw the trench leveled for photos while a ditch was emerging in trench 5. Lollies at lunchtime was a welcome relief in the heat.

Digging with @Altogether_Arch and @still_trowles
Early rain but the sun came out in the afternoon.
Trench 4 - I think the students were extending to expose more of the cairns.
Trench 6 - more sections done some unexpected drainage exposed.
Trench 8 - more exposure and some finds

So the main action today was in trench 8 where in the morning everyone was trowelling.
In the afternoon the students did some work putting sections through areas of trench 6 establishing a stone lined drain.
Trench 4 didn't see any action today. #altogetherarchaeology
