It showed me that AI can be deeply human.” For Shyreen Kalulu, a student at the University of Malawi, participating in Ms Geek Africa 2025 was more than a competition, it was a turning point in how she approaches innovation and entrepreneurship. Through the Smart Africa #MissGeekInitiative, supported by GIZ, young women across Africa are developing technology driven solutions to real community challenges. What does innovation look like in the fight against malaria? @CharisUAS is conducting a live drone spraying demo, showcasing how targeted drone flights identify and treat mosquito breeding sites in wetlands and rice fields, reducing transmission at the source. The goal is to reduce malaria transmission by up to 50% using precision drone spraying, real-time mapping of mosquito breeding sites, and community-driven action.
