Just as well the World Cup is on. This might have spoiled my weekend! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Today I start a new role as Instructional Design and Learning Technology Adviser at the SSSC. After more than a decade in L&D there, I'll be leading on AI in learning across Scotland's 215,000 social service workers and keeping our Open Badges programme fit for purpose.

People are testing Anthropic’s Claude with basic logic questions as a predictor of how well it will perform in a session. One of these is the ‘walk or drive to the car wash question’. I have never seen Opus 4.5 or 4.6 say another other than drive. But Opus 3’s reasoning is a sight to behold.

I miss the ‘new’ badge. The internet has never been the same without it.

I'm part of a team that has drawn up AI principles for the social services workforce in Scotland. If you work in social care, I'd really appreciate a few minutes of your time to complete the survey. Responses will help inform the learning resources to support people apply the principles in practice. customervoice.microsoft.com/…

Like the L&D cousin of Mark Renton in that Trainspotting monologue - choose order taking, choose comfortable irrelevance, choose measuring your worth in SCORM completions - I chose not to choose that. I chose something else. Specifically, I chose the Learning and Performance Institute’s Performance Consulting Masterclass. bp.cred.scot/b/914a472168e93…

Over annual leave, I updated my demo Open Badge generator to support the Open Badges 3.0 standard. It's exciting to watch Open Badges move from niche interest to a widely recognised standard in verifiable credentials. badges.dgty.uk/

When is it appropriate to wear a Christmas jumper? That's the conversation we're having in the Stewart household right now.

It’s all go at Riverside Recycling Centre in Dundee this afternoon. Something is on fire and dealing with it does not look like a fun job.

I’m visiting the UK’s National Robotarium today and have no idea what to expect. Other than robots, AI and data science. Never knew we had something like this, so it’s going to be an interesting day - thenationalrobotarium.com

Working on a personal #OpenBadges project - building a backpack (digital portfolio for storing and managing badges). Making progress, but still need to figure out AI summarisation and get my head around the Open Badges 3.0 spec.

I’d encourage and learning and people development folks to take part in @DonaldHTaylor ‘s survey below; it helps provide great insights on priorities in organisational learning.

Just received this in the mail. A brand new remake of the ZX Spectrum. I learned to program on the ZX 2 which came a bit later and had a usable keyboard, but the original Spectrum was perfect for games.
