Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias today flagged off a 5 km run organised by Real Time Sports from Bahu Plaza Jammu. An on-wheel exhibition of cartoons under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan was also displayed on the occasion.
The event aimed to promote fitness, healthy living, community participation and spreading the message of "No to Drugs, Yes to Fitness" among the youth and citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said such fitness activities should become a regular feature especially among the youngsters. He stressed that every individual from all sections of the society should come forward in our collective fight against drugs abuse.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias today chaired the Board meeting of the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board, Ransoo. The meeting reviewed the overall functioning of the Shrine Board and deliberated on a series of measures aimed at strengthening infrastructure and enhancing facilities for pilgrims visiting the holy shrine.
Reviewing the functioning of the Shrine Board, the Divisional Commissioner noted that sustained efforts have been made to upgrade infrastructure and expanding the pilgrim amenities at the holy Shrine.
The Div Com directed that tenders for shops near the shrine and along the pilgrimage track be floated at the earliest and stressed the installation of CCTV cameras at key locations within the shrine complex.
During the meeting, on-the-spot approvals were accorded for several developmental works. The Divisional Commissioner took stock of the arrangements around the helipad, particularly the installation of fire safety infrastructure, and directed the concerned departments to ensure that all essential safety measures are put in place.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias on Thursday inaugurated the “Liaison Officers’ Training cum Refreshers programmer” on Market for Textile and Clothing (MTC): National Household Survey organized by Textile Committee, Ministry of Textiles, GoI at Convention Centre Jammu.
The two day programme brings together Liaison officers from the Northern region to enhance their knowledge on data collection techniques, improving data quality, incorporating aspects of new fibers & products and upcoming aspects of sustainability to cater the needs of survey users.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner highlighted Jammu region's rich potential of handloom and local textiles. He said that the data collected by the Liaison officers will play a key role in policy formulation and boosting the handloom and textile sector in Jammu Kashmir.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, @Rameshkumarias and @igp_jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, today visited Ramban district and reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the smooth and successful conduct of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. They also assessed the progress of the National Highway-44 four-laning project from Nashri to Banihal.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, @Rameshkumarias, today reviewed the department and district wise flood preparedness and Heatwave management in Jammu Division.
The Div Com sought the details of steps taken by District Administrations and Heads of Departments regarding flood preparedness in view of the forthcoming Monsoon.
He directed the Deputy Commissioners to establish District level control rooms for quick response, restoration of essential services and flood mitigation efforts. He asked them for constant monitoring of water levels in rivers and other water bodies in their respective districts.The DCs of hilly districts were asked to conduct visits of team of experts for checking the stability of slopes in vulnerable areas and taking necessary measures in advance.
All the Deputy Commissioners were asked to identify landslide and flood prone areas in their districts and prepare a mitigation plan accordingly. He directed them to conduct training of Civil Defence volunteers and mock drills with participation of local residents.
The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the Heat Wave management. He directed the Health department for regular issuing of advisories of protection from Heat wave and Dos & Don’ts for the general public.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias and @igp_jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti today chaired a meeting with HODs and nodal officers to review arrangements and preparations for forthcoming annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2026 at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas. They also visited Tawi River Front and Railway Station Jammu.
The Div Com, and IGP Jammu took stock of the ongoing preparations and works undertaken by different departments in order to provide a convenient and hassle-free stay to the pilgrims at the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas before they depart to Baltal and Pahalgam base camps.
It was informed that this year the Token centre for on-spot registration and RFID shall be established at Tawi River front relieving the traffic and crowd issues at the Railway Station.
The Div Com directed for adequate arrangements of drinking water, washrooms, German hangars, barricades for queue management and medical facility at the Tawi River front. He also directed for providing vehicles that would ferry the pilgrims between Tawi Riverfront and the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas.
Further instructions were issued for installing Display Boards, Signages showing the directions and distance to pilgrims for visiting places in and around Jammu City. Provision of hourly Bus service on the identified routes is also made for pilgrims to visit tourist spots and sightseeing.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias, completed the self-enumeration process in his office today in presence District Census Officer, Jammu.
The Div Com was apprised that more than 10500 citizens in Jammu district have already completed their self-enumeration process by visiting on se.census.gov.in , using their mobile number and OTP.
He appealed to the citizens to actively participate in the digital self-enumeration process of the census 2027 and completing the process by 31 May, 2026.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu @Rameshkumarias visited Kathua District. He reviewed major infrastructure projects, chaired meetings to review the implementation of Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, and assessed arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
The Div Com inspected the progress of works on the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and reviewed the pace of construction at various stretches. He held detailed discussions with the concerned officers and executing agencies regarding the roadmap for timely completion of the project and stressed the need for maintaining quality standards while ensuring adherence to deadlines.
He further inspected the Lakhanpur Corridor and took stock of the beautification, traffic management and amenities improvement being undertaken in view of the upcoming pilgrimage season.
The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed the progress of digitization of revenue records and processing of ownership cases of West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs), Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947, 1965 and 1971 in the district. He called for speeding up the assigned works and stressed upon ensuring error-free data entry and timely disposal of pending cases.
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar chaired a meeting to review the implementation and progress of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna in the Jammu province.
Div Com laid stress on identifying the bottlenecks for effective implementation and mobilizing of maximum number of people to avail the subsidized scheme which aims at reducing the power bill and promoting green energy usage.
Div Com asked the JPDCL to intensify the awareness and publicity campaign to highlight the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna. He also asked DCs to conduct periodical review for smooth and expeditious implementation of the Yojana.
