Exactly! USS investing our pension money into fossil fuels and the banks that fund fossil fuels. Members don’t want this but trustees ignore their views. Universities divest but continue to pay USS £ millions. Let’s change this in 2025

So thousand of workers in the NEST scheme can divest their pensions but in USS only those in the DC scheme can choose an ethical option. Why ? We need all to have this option not just the lucky few!

Same problem with USS - only small % of members can choose fossil free pension and only small % of those actually make the choice. Default fund should be fossil fuel free!

🚨 @LloydsBank are an oily bank – they won't stop their flow of cash to new fossil fuels. They're hoping we won’t notice that much like @BarclaysUK and @HSBC, they are still financing the companies that are driving the climate crisis ❌

You may have thought our last post suggested USS listening to some members and had concerns that investing in Israel was providing support to IDF and their actions in Gaza. This clarifies uss.co.uk/news-and-views/lat…. Decision was purely financial!

USS divesting from Israel without tests of no significant financial detriment or knowing all member views. If they can do this they can do same for fossil fuels now !
