On the same day that Illinois steps in to regulate mental health AI, a complete coincidence that @DoSho and I have a paper on mental health AI safety published in BJPsych Bulletin Open Access. #AI#alignmentcambridge.org/core/journals/…
How can we safely use AI technology for the good of staff and service users?
'AI in psychiatry' gives an overview of AI in the clinical space.

#AndTheWinnerIs... @asifmbachlani (Dr Asif Mehdi Bachlani) from @kmptnhs!
The judges noted that “Dr Bachlani’s work is full of examples of all-round excellence as a curious, innovative clinician, status quo challenger, stigma fighter and data-driven population level change maker. His ability to ignite the passion and nurture curiosity in others is most impressive.”
Huge congratulations to Dr Bachlani!

UK Guidance for #GenAI
A must read for government funded boards and government suppliers
TL:DR
It outlines principles, creation, procurement, and governance of Generative AI in government, emphasising security, ethics, and responsible use.
@CDEIUK featured tools like carefulai.com/pridar.html help government to manage the expectations it sets out around a ML/AI systems inventory management and Board reporting on AI.

Me and @DoSho
have for some years been thinking about how #AI will change mental healthcare. The risk is people get carried away with what these new LLMs can do, and rush to deploy. But that might not be safe. So here's a paper with a proposal.

Safety first in AI for mental health. But when we iron out the safety issues, it will become negligent not to use AI tools to support mental health care.
@Psychiatry_UK CTO, Dr Lesa Wright @DoSho Tech lead who has markedly improved our IT system since taking over. Further investment and upgrades planned for future… more automation and AI. #PUKAGM2021
A day at the vaccination centre... @SWLSTG
I had #CoronavirusVaccine jab (AZ, first of two) and prescribed it for a number of colleagues.
Hopefully we have reached the final furlong of #Covid19 pandemic.
That's one small jab for man, one giant nudge for mankind...
Speech and language therapists, and all the “other AHPs” in this list are highly trained technical experts. Where I work we couldn’t function without them. Clinical professionals get fed up feeling that they almost have to apologise for not being a nurse or a medical doctor.
My research shows SLT mental health & well-being is negatively affected by being severely undervalued by senior managers and commissioners. Being an ‘other’ is not okay. @RCSLT@NHS@The_HCPC
One of the biggest challenges when trying to support people with autism is the assumption that rigid external structure is always needed. Demand avoidance is a massively underexposed clinical issue.
