“We will call it Raleigh-Durham International Airport.”
Named for the city of Raleigh-Durham, sir?
“It’s actually two different cities.”
And which one will the airport be in?
“Morrisville.”
We’re delighted that @Doctor_Devi, Director of @dukesequencing, will be joining us for our Sequencing Roundtable at The Festival of Genomics & Biodata in Boston! Register now to find out about the latest updates from the sequencing world: hubs.la/Q02r1w-K0#FOGBoston#NGS
We're hiring postdoctoral researchers in yeast evolutionary genomics and synthetic biology!
Yeasts are incredibly diverse and so are the projects available - from basic and fundamental principles of evolution to metabolic engineering for bioenergy:

The All of Us paper is rightly being criticized for its UMAP figure, which suggests an overly discrete view of human variation—a problem that is compounded by colouring the plot with self-identified race and then omitting the “self-identified” from the title & legend. 1/n
Hopefully, this will be the last time we'll see UMAP for human population genetic variation. When @jkpritch takes a stand - who usually is reluctant to engage on these issues - you know that somebody screwed up.
It's a pity that All of Us used UMAP to visualize ancestry variation in their new marker paper, out today in Nature.
The UMAP algorithm, by design, exaggerates the distinctiveness of the most frequent ancestries, a message that can be misinterpreted by the public.

That's a wrap on #AGBT2024! 🎉 What a week of thrilling new announcements and captivating research. Our lab and @DukeSequencing, have already begun the countdown to next year!
I started my lab (sites.wustl.edu/wulab/) at @WUSM_MolMicro, and we are super excited in exploring the intricate interactions among gut microbiota and immune system! We are actively seeking passionate researchers at all career levels to join our dynamic and collaborative lab.
