We had a client last year who really wanted this somewhat random two word .com. It was owned, for whatever reason, by a major publisher. We jumped through all the necessary hoops and finally connected with a guy in the IT department. Made a very aggressive offer of $60K....waited weeks for a response, then just a “not interested, regardless of price.” Oh well — we moved on and set up monitoring on the domain. 5 months later, the name expired (LOL) and we picked it up on GoDaddy auctions for $1,000. Boom! 💥 Just goes to show how much value there is in actually understanding the domain name ecosystem. Renewals matter, ya’ll.
