Wow… terrible news. 🙏🏽RIP 99. You should have had a HOF career. But you did good things for others in the end. That’s what matters 💔
Former #49ers EDGE Aldon Smith had sadly passed away at the age of 36, per @Chase_Senior 🙏🏼 🕊️

Does the way some Knicks fans are launching mini riots in the street (plus us having to look at all the NY uppercrust celebs sitting courtside) make anyone out there root for the Spurs to get the comeback upset? I’m just checking.

Does anyone else find the handholding that goes on between some Rams fans and some Seahawks fans creepy and disturbing? It feels like they are covertly meeting to eat Oreo ice cream, paint toe nails, and have pillow fights together. wtf. Whatever happened to old school football rival hatred? I’m not just out on that, I’m out-out.

Mac Jones was once reviled in SF. Now he’s a fan favorite. Why? Because Mac’s about his team, his brothers, his coaches, and football, not his Diamond-dusted sweatpants. I will take a real football player over a self-centered diva 10 times out of 10.
Literally never in my life did I think I’d be a Mac Jones fan 😂

Functionally admitting he ripped the team off. You’d think someone in his family or a close friend would grab him and tell him to quit spewing this childish nonsense on social media, but I suppose there’s a strong possibility that everyone in his inner circle is as dirt dumb as he is. What an absolute doorknob. x.com/LombardiHimself/status…

Innocent until proven guilty, of course, but if this takes its natural and expedient path, the Rams are going to be missing the guy who protects Stafford’s backside for a significant segment of the season. Not good news for the Rams.

This aligns precisely with what Evans said upon signing—that he watched Purdy over time and saw things in him that he wanted to have from his QB. That’s a large reason why he wanted to come to SF; it certainly wasn’t the best monetary offer he got. When a HOF-level player pushes aside better offers to come to a team with a particular QB and Head Coach, that speaks volumes. Evans knew exactly what he was doing.
George Kittle says Mike Evans and Brock Purdy have already built a connection at practice: “Mike and Brock immediately established a rhythm, which was really fun to watch.” via: @UpAndAdamsShow | @heykayadams

I think Highsmith is likely to be departing Pittsburgh soon, but this still feels like a 2027 move to me. He would be an outstanding element across from Bosa, but with the 49ers investing in young D-line players over the past two years, I’m not sure you want to displace their progress by taking snaps away. Still, Bosa, Osa-O and Highsmith, adding in Williams, Height, Collins and West, all on the same line, would wreck some offenses. I’m still projecting he goes elsewhere, and probably next season, though.
Jason La Canfora reports that the #49ers are a team to watch as a potential suitor for Steelers' Alex Highsmith. 👀 More: 49erswebzone.com/articles/20…

Very much on point. One additional point: there’s a strong likelihood that the 31 other teams agree on the 49ers drawing a hard line on players materially breaching contracts, including the Commanders. Fans want what they want— but the DC front office doesn’t dig what Aiyuk is doing anymore that Lynch does. This would set a terrible precedent in the league, if Aiyuk was allowed to walk away without consequences. 49ers need to hold the line, without exception.
Imagine thinking that a player can take $48 million from an organization and expect to walk away a free agent, consequence-free, after not meeting his half of the obligation. There are people on this app who do not understand how contracts — or the world — work 😂

Stribling might end up being Jennings with a turbo charger.
De'Zhaun Stribling is a physical wide receiver with serious run-after-catch ability. He creates horizontal separation, which is Brock Purdy's sweet spot. It takes multiple defenders to bring him down, and he's still falling forward for extra yards. #49ers #DeZhaunStribling

Seeing plenty of people in DC now who are understanding that Aiyuk is bad news for a roster. After a scan of the Commanders fan feed, it’s apparent that half of them are decent, intelligent people. The other half are missing some critical genetic coding.

I’m continuing to call this dude “BA.” But it no longer is related to his name. Let me know if you have trouble understanding why.

There are STILL people out there (mostly in DC), thinking the 49ers must: (1) Cut Brandon Aiyuk to avoid his taking up a roster spot; and, (2) Cut Aiyuk before the start of the season to avoid paying him his roster bonus. That is absolute nonsense. As long as Aiyuk continues to be on the DNR list, he is not counted against the roster, and is owed no money. The “49ers will have to cut him anyway” crowd are carrying around an empty picnic basket. SF can simply leave him on the shelf indefinitely, through this season and well beyond, until he grows a pair and shows up. Aiyuk’s career tanking is 100% on Aiyuk himself.

It’s rare to see a prominent sports figure devolve in real time, but that is what this is. It’s impossible to know the elements of all this completely, because the only thing Aiyuk provides are these cryptic posts; he never directly conveys a factual statement about what happened or his current mindset. One thing I can say is this: any team that chooses to bring him onto a roster (assuming he ever gets himself ready to play) is taking a risk; probably not much of a monetary risk, since he’s unlikely to ever see serious money again, but certainly a locker room risk. The energy is clearly off and I can’t imagine any team anxious to bring that into their building.

Brock Purdy's secret weapon? Pre-snap defense diagnosis. A brutal early-career hit taught him the high stakes: get it right, and the play succeeds; get it wrong, and he's injured. That lesson fuels his smarts and success on the field. #NFL #BrockPurdy #FootballIQ
