Yesterday, during the Broadway play Joe Turner's Come and Gone, director Debbie Allen had to use the intermission to reprimand the audience for inappropriate laughter and cell phones ringing during the performance; Taraji P. Henson, who plays Bertha Holly in the play, spoke about the incident
"Theater is not for punks, okay? Theater is for the strong. You have to have discipline. I love that itβs a living organism. You canβt do theater and forget the audience. Thatβs why every show is different. Youβve got to work through it. That cell phone ringing might make me throw my line. But I got to stay in character."
