Early this morning, I voted โ€˜noโ€™ on the Trump-Republican budget bill that cuts Medicare, Medicaid, and food assistance for seniors, veterans, working families and children. Read my statement:

America's friendship with Greece and Cyprus is founded on our common love of democracy. That's what makes our partnerships so powerful. Earlier this week, I spoke with Greek- and Cypriot-American leaders from South Jersey and across the country on how we can tighten the bond between Cyprus, Greece, and the United States. Our nation is safer and stronger when we support our allies, and I'm proud to stand with the people of these great nations.

I'm aware of the challenges facing the Emanet family, who have been rooted in our community for decades and whose restaurant has become a core part of said community. Let's be clear: Our immigration system is fundamentally broken, and every day immigrants get targeted as a result because they came from somewhere else โ€” just like you and me. It's wrong, and I won't stop working to fix the rules here in Congress.

This week, we forced a vote & passed @DonaldNorcross' Faster Labor Contracts ActโœŠ This bill requires employers to bargain with organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union. We're calling on the Senate to pass the bill & deliver for workers.

Workers can't wait years for a first contract. The Faster Labor Contracts Act makes sure they don't have to. BIG WIN in the House yesterday. Congrats to @DonaldNorcross and every Member who stood on the right side of this fight. This is what SHOWING UP for working people looks like. @Labor_Caucus #proact #workerschampion #organize

Yesterday I voted NO on the Republican's $70 billion handout to ICE. ย  Just like we saw with the last reconciliation bill, this is Americans getting screwed 2.0. ย  In Trump's unaffordable America, imagine how 70 BILLION dollars could have helped bring your costs down. Instead, Republicans want to spend more money on a reckless, already-funded agency that's responsible for the mess at Delaney Hall. Shameful.

My Faster Labor Contracts Act has passed the House! Newly unionized workers shouldn't have to wait years for their first contract. I appreciate my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for coming together to take this enormous step โ€“ now let's finish the job:

When workers vote to form a union, they should not have to wait years, or even months, to get a first contract. The #IBEW applauds House passage of the Faster Labor Contracts Act, and especially thanks IBEW member @DonaldNorcross for his leadership in making it happen.

Every day, nearly 130 people lose their lives to gun violence in our country. Those are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, taken from us far too soon. This weekend is #WearOrange Weekend, when we honor the victims and survivors of gun violence across America. I still have hope that our nation can end this uniquely American problem, and together we will.

We must never forget the incredible sacrifices made by Allied soldiers, sailors, and airmen on the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago today. I've had the privilege of visiting Normandy on numerous occasions, and each time I'm reminded of the brave men who stormed those beaches to defeat Nazi tyranny in Europe. In their memory, let's recommit ourselves to fighting for freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

Another year, another NDAA! Lucky to have such great colleagues and staff working together on @HASCDemocrats to make sure our servicemembers, their families, and everyone who supports them get the resources they need. To my friend @RepMoulton, congrats on your final NDAA markup and thank you for being a great partner to me, this committee, and our country.

Civilian employees break their backs to get America's servicemembers the resources they need to keep us safe. I'm fighting like hell to reverse President Trump's efforts to strip those workers of their collective bargaining rights, and I'm grateful that the Armed Services committee approved my amendment to the NDAA last night in a bipartisan vote.

Both hospital staff and the servicemembers they cared for suffered badly when the government tried outsourcing healthcare at Walter Reed. Congress stepped in to stop it, but now some lawmakers are trying to go back to the old system. Making the same mistake twice would be inexcusable. I'm glad @HASCDemocrats helped reject this amendment:

When you buy something online, you deserve to know where in the world it's coming from. But right now, large online retailers don't have to disclose the same information that brick and mortar businesses do. That's a problem. Happy to partner with @RepCarlos on our bipartisan COOL Online Act to close this loophole and give everyone the transparency they need to make informed purchases.

Jacquelyn Love was a force for good in Deptford for generations. It saddened me to hear of her passing and Iโ€™m thinking of her family. She paved the way for others as a black, female deputy mayor in the 80s, and long remained a champion for civil rights, faith, the disabled, and many more throughout her life. Her son Wayne's leadership on the Deptford council is a testament to how she inspired others to serve, too. Rest in peace, Jacquelyn.

One of my favorite parts of this job is bringing federal funding home to South Jersey and I was happy to have delivered half a million dollars in funding to Haddonfield for a brand new police headquarters. Today, we cut the ribbon on that headquarters, giving the men and women who protect us a modern, clean, and safe home. Our first responders risk their lives each and every day to protect us, and I'll keep fighting to make sure they have all the tools they need to keep our communities safe.
