The House just passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act – this is a big win for workers!
I proudly voted for this bill, which speeds up the process of finalizing a contract between a newly certified union and the employer, and prevents employers from dragging out negotiations for years.
Speaker Johnson wouldn’t bring this bill to the floor, but House Democrats and the Labor Caucus built bipartisan support and used a discharge petition to force a vote.
The right to organize and collectively bargain is crucial to improving wages, benefits, working conditions, and more. Years-long delays are an infringement upon that right, and these delays hurt workers.
Now that the House has acted, the Senate needs to pass this legislation as well.
