I get the idea... I just don’t get the logic 👀 FIFA has made a late change to its World Cup stadium rules, banning fans from bringing reusable water bottles into grounds because of safety concerns. Fans will still be able to buy water inside the stadiums, which is the bit that makes this feel strange 👀 So you can’t take an empty bottle in because you might throw it… but you can buy a bottle of water inside that you could also throw? That part makes no sense to me 🤦‍♂️ This World Cup has already caused a stir, from ticket pricing to hotels and local transport, so I get why supporters are frustrated. But when I was playing, hydration was drilled into us every single day → before training, during training, after games, travelling, recovering… it was treated as basic welfare. Fans deserve the same common sense 🤷‍♂️ If supporters can’t bring their own bottle, then water inside the stadium has to be easy to access, fairly priced and available without ridiculous queues. You CAN protect the pitch without making life harder for the people in the stands!! (📷: skynews)
