A reminder that getting back to “normal” could have meant smaller class sizes, better indoor air quality, all-ages vaccination drives, free access to tests and high-quality PPE. Instead, we’ve had years now of unending sickness, with our smallest neighbours paying the price 💔

Look closely at this photo @VancityReynolds posted, and you’ll see the massive dirt piles of the West Island of Ontario Place. Doug Ford destroyed a beautiful, bustling, waterfront park and animal habitat, all in service of a European MegaSpa company. #onpoli

My councillor/Mayoral candidate Brad Bradford does have a degree in urban planning yet refuses to speak out against this. Why? Hopefully the council candidates in #BeachesEastYork will take a stronger stance and pledge to protect our waterfront and green spaces. #topoli
Replying to @jen_keesmaat
I don't have a degree in urban planning. Is it normal to build parking garages on some of the most valuable land in the biggest city in the country with the best lake views?

We've been fundraising all year at our school to buy basic supplies like books and crayons but @fordnation, who refuses to invest in the future of millions of Ontario children, has decided to waste $200,000,000 of our taxpayer dollars on a MegaGarage. #FordnationLogic #onpoli
NEW: Ontario announces it has awarded a $198 million contract to design and build new parking structure at Ontario Place, to Canadian company Pomerleau Inc. after procurement process. Says it will include 3,500 parking spots, 680 EV charging stations and bicycle parking. #onpoli

In Beaches-East York we have been left without effective federal representation on this important issue while our MP ran for office at a different level of government in a different riding, has been MIA for almost a month, and is quitting soon. #BEYDeservesBetter

Need to start writing to all Toronto Liberal MPs about how unacceptable this is and that there will be a political price to pay for the party.

Last year this 1 MPP spent $23,000 of Ontario taxpayer dollars on ONE event. Is it any wonder he would spend our money on folders like this? A reminder that, at our school, we were specifically told elected officials could not be involved in end of year activities. #onted
Quick question @PaulCalandra …I thought graduations were to be apolitical events. Why is @RudyCuzzetto dropping off boxes of unsolicited, politically branded grad certificates? #onted #onpoli @TinaYazdani @MaritStiles

I write a lot of surveys for my job. Surveys take a lot of time and energy to craft to ensure questions are presented in an appropriate, unbiased way. This survey, written by the federal government to gauge public support for Ford's takeover of YTZ is... interesting.
NEW: Federal Transport Minister Steve MacKinnon today announced that the federal government is launching consultations about the future of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport - which Prime Minister Carney last week said would happen. #onpoli #cdnpoli Details:

Instead, they include this question. I think a lot of people might say yes, of course, I would love to see shorter lines, and faster transit connections, and more money coming to the city, and more jobs, seems like a great idea! I'll click "yes"!

The good news is there are numerous open-ended spaces to share your thoughts on Ford's takeover of our island airport, likely with concomitant loss to green spaces at Little Norway Park and the Islands. It will be very interesting to read the final "What We Heard" report.

RT @DFisman: Let the feds know what you think of the ill-conceived proposal to bring jets and runway expansion to toronto‘s island airport…

Brad was John Tory’s protégé on City Council. Tory endorsed him to be the “same kind of councillor” as his predecessor, who also voted overwhelmingly in lockstep with the mayor. Have Brad’s supporters already forgotten his history at City Hall? Or are they hoping voters will?
THIS IS THE MAN who should be Toronto’s next mayor. @BradMBradford is Toronto’s best bet to recover from a dozen years of dreadful leadership at City Hall. He’s the only option to lead this city forward again.

l received this "save the date" email, but still no reply to my inquiries about whether Nate- who continues to serve as our #BeachesEastYork MP and continues to get paid to do this role- supports Ford's airport Island expansion plans. #onpoli #BEY

NEW: Nate Erskine-Smith will resign as the MP for Beaches-East York — and is hosting a farewell event in East York on June 25. The invite says it’ll bring together “the people who have been part of Nate’s journey over the years.” More to come: policorner.ca/subscribe

Isn’t this the former Education Minister who seems to have misplaced billions of dollars in federal education funding and created the longest pandemic school closures in Canada due to his refusal to invest in the health and safety of Ontario children, educators, and families?
During Question Period today, Energy Minister Stephen Lecce said: "Maybe the problem ... is not the judgement or the character of this government but the incompetence of leadership of the opposition." #onpoli

Next time you see MPPs claim they’re working tirelessly for you, available 24-7, working around the clock, won’t stop fighting for you and your family etc etc, it’s helpful to remember how much time they actually spend at work. #onpoli
The Ontario legislature is expected to rise today after seven weeks. MPPs have spent just 29 days introducing, debating and passing legislation. Queen’s Park is now widely expected to take an extended summer break - with 5 planned sitting weeks to be erased. #onpoli

Remember when we had a federal election a year ago and everyone talked about "Elbows up, Canada", and voting Liberal to "build Canada Strong"?? What is your Toronto Liberal MP doing to stop this seemingly American-based takeover of our beloved Toronto islands? Mine is 🤐🦗🤐🦗
I spent some time looking at the company behind a massive lobbying push to have Toronto's island airport expanded. What I found was a deep tangle of corporate and PR webs that all obscured a relatively simple truth. thestar.com/opinion/star-col…

Meddelsome Doug strikes again. Councillors, speed cameras, Ontario Place, Science Centre, bike lanes, trustees, now our beautiful, iconic, and heavily-used waterfront. His obsession with Toronto is unreal. Urge your Toronto Liberal MP to stop him today: nojetsto.com

Here we see Brian using the exact same "NDP machine" line that our Liberal MPP used when she endorsed Brad back in 2018. Is a Liberal 🤝 Tory team running the same playbook as in 2018? Does that mean we'll end up with the "same kind of city councillor" again? #BEY #topoli
