Replying to @ESA_org
@ESA_org trying to do some budgeting to bring students to the meeting this year. Are the registration rates for the 2026 meeting posted anywhere?

These are two undergrads and what I could find is $330 registration per student. Correct? esa.org/events/meetings/meet…

Replying to @Lowes
@Lowes completely messed up my installation of a stove. Promised an installation date. I verified at the store that my items were in stock. The installer went to pick it up and was told it wasn’t there. The various store systems keep giving unclear information. What a nightmare.

Is @LowesTeam_ an official account of Lowe’s?

It seems a little suspicious that this account started this month, has two tweets, & 1 follower if this is not a fake account.

I’m a plant ecologist who has used labeled stable isotopes to understand ecosystem nutrient cycling. This is a really cool study that uses them to understand cancer…wow!

Legally mandated U.S. national climate assessments seem to have disappeared from the federal websites built to display them, making it harder to learn what to expect from a warming world. See which ones the Trump administration pulled. apnews.com/article/climate-c…

Proposed NOAA budget zeros out ALL climate laboratories and cooperative institutions. GFDL, NSSL, GML, etc. This appears to also end the US greenhouse gas sampling network, including the Mauna Loa site, the oldest continuous carbon dioxide monitoring site on Earth.
The official NOAA "budget request" to Congress (which is a detailed version of the "President's Budget" would be devastating, and basically end all research and development. Purportedly, the proposal moves a lot of weather research and development under NWS, but doing so while eliminating the labs themselves and the CIs would get rid of most of the people and infrastructure that does this critical work. Fortunately, Congress has the final say on this, so I recommend pressuring your Senators and representatives to step in and continue allocating NOAA the resources to pursue life-saving research.

The Senate is about to vote on a bill that would raise electricity prices in every single state. It would cut off America's fastest growing sources of new electricity at a time when we need it most. Some states would see their bills go up by 20% as a result of this bill.

In late April, hundreds of volunteer scientists and experts across the country were told by the Trump administration that they were no longer needed to compile the next national climate assessment, a flagship report mandated by Congress to periodically catalog the ways climate change is affecting the nation. @johnyangtv spoke with @EAKoebele who was among the recipients of that message.

WOW! ~391,137 ha of 🌽⛽ is ideal for conversion to 🌞panels (3.2% of the land for 🌽⛽). Converting this to solar could yield the same amount of energy as ALL 🌽⛽annually in US. This would increase %🌞 energy in US energy mix from 3.9 to 13% anthropocenemagazine.org/202…

Since the dawn of the industrial revolution, a couple of hundred years ago, greenhouse gas forcing - mainly from burning fossil fuels - has more than doubled. Meaning that the ability of the atmosphere to trap heat has significantly increased. Thanks @LeonSimons8 for the graphic!

My talk at @Marist on #earthday will start by contrasting Trump's dismantling of environmental protections with Republican Richard Nixon's actions, starting with his 1/22/1970 SOTU (exactly 3 months before the first #EarthDay) laying out the clear logic for protecting air, water and lands even though there's a financial cost.
