Oh god is THIS really the new discourse?

I think it’s very silly the way people think something has to be at the peak of its fandom forever to be impactful. Like Cuphead was objectively an enormous success but because almost 10 years after it’s release it’s not being talked about constantly it’s a failure

If she’s talking about fictional characters, she has a point, if she’s talking about people in real life, I think that’s kind of silly.
i see it as misogyny btw

I will always hate “natal female terfs” because they always side with men (subaltern or otherwise) to oppress me.
People would rather hate natal female terfs sheltered in the West than subaltern men that violently perpetuate third worldist reactionary movements….go figure

The guy coming at you with a baseball is no less dangerous just because his home life is falling apart
The reason Andor is aging poorly for me is because I realized the Empire is insanely incompetent in the show and it ruins the whole "actually evil serious threat" thing In the prison Cassian was through in there were a total of like 30 guards in the entire complex, which was a vital slave labor source for the most important industrial project the Empire was undertaking The Empire sent more soldiers to antagonize Ferrix during Aunt Petunia's funeral because they are mustache twirling saturday morning villains instead of a serious entity

The question is never framed that way by campists. Is all the patriarchal oppression, the capitalism, the political repression, national and religious oppression, etc. necessary to fight US/Israeli imperialist aggression. Are they “priorities”

If I was iran and being bombed id probably have bigger concerns than if women dress modestly enough

This game was not made for the female gaze, none of these guys are Bishounen.

The only bad part of the finale was also the only thing that you couldn’t have seen coming, being unpredictable is not an inherent virtue of storytelling

Why would a female link be maternal just because she’s a woman? That’s never been part of links characterization.

I think it’s bad when the government restricts how you can express yourself and what information you’re allowed to have actually
This is such a spoiled western concept of freedom, it doesn’t go beyond freedom to dye your hair and own mass produced objects and consoom the entertainment of your choice. People would die to protect their children from starvation and rape, you people would kill for the right to

You’re seeing a video of the morality police sexually harass a child, and then you act as if it’s in service of preventing children being raped

While you could compare the power of dragons to nukes, that’s a bit too physical. Really the dragons are more of an allegory for raw force, power and will unbound and unchecked. The question ASOIAF arc poses then, is whether that power can be used to liberate or only to destroy
Person who reads ASOIAF and thinks that the allegorical nuclear bombs used by colonizers to maintain their hold on the throne are a good thing that benefits the world

And it leads to the resubjugation of Dany’s real people, the slaves she seeks to liberate from bondage. It leads to quiet, but not the true long lasting peace that justice would provide. Her dragons can free her from those constraints, and remake the world.

That will certainly bring a lot of good, but does imposing justice from the top really fix things? Or does it all fall apart once the dragons are gone?

They’re cementing the patriarchal relations that men get a direct benefit from? Why do y’all act confused about the concept of patriarchy.
From the bottom of my heart, I genuinely struggle to understand what the Taliban think they’re achieving with these policies. Restricting women’s education, limiting access to healthcare, and stripping basic opportunities from half the population is devastating.

Kinda funny that people who have replaced any semblance of adherence to class struggle on any level and replaced it with garden variety bourgeois nationalism calling people “lost” for believing a capitalist theocracy must fall.
not only lost, rotten to the core

The supreme law of the land is a council of clerics above the government with the express purpose of blocking anything the government does that might contradict Islam. There are religious police that enforce conformity. If the IR is a democracy it’s a theocratic and illiberal one
iran is not by any reasonable estimation a theocracy. they are a liberal democracy no different from france or any other european democracy. if you can't escape this racist stereotype you are not equipped for this convo
Community note
Iran is a theocracy, with the constitution's Article 12 stating: "The official religion of Iran is Islam". The Supreme Leader is both a political and religious position. Its democratic legitimacy is weak, as all candidates are filtered by the unelected Guardian Council. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitut… freedomhouse.org/country/iran

it’s all funny haha “men wanna fuck other men” but what they actually want to say is that there should be a subgroup of women like prostitutes who hold no value or respect and exist to be passed around until a man wants a ‘respectable’ woman for marriage

A lot of people don't talk about this, the New Deal social programs did not include black ppl by design to get southern racists on board, it was essentially welfare for white people.

One of the biggest reasons I see the “burning times” mythology that’s often repeated by neopagans to be incredibly fucking dangerous historical misinformation
I always find it odd that stories that show that yes Witches exist, and yes they do have scary magic, completely validates the "suffer not the witch to live" mentality.
