In Uganda, 50.5% of our population is under the age of 18. While this represents immense potential, many of these young people are quietly navigating a complex maze of mental health struggles, peer pressure, and the stigma surrounding personal growth.
From the anxiety of social expectations to the weight of unhealthy relationships and substance abuse, the challenges facing the Gen Z and Alpha generations are significant. To support them effectively, we must acknowledge that traditional support systems are most powerful when they are paired with innovative, youth-friendly engagement.
At
@reachahand, we see our work as a vital partner to formal education. Schools are the ideal environment for personal development, but they often need additional, creative platforms to help students process these unspoken life issues.
Through edutainment, we meet young people exactly where they are: in their creativity.
Our
#YouCanDance Inter-School Competition is built on the belief that dance is a language young people naturally understand. It is more than just movement; it is a tool for safe expression, building resilience and collaborative learning.
Addressing youth mental health requires a shift in how we approach their issues. By combining the structured learning of the classroom with the expressive power of the arts, we provide a complete support system for the next generation.
