LESSONS - A MUST READ!
RWENZORI MARATHON/ COFFEE BUSINESS
Many of you have been following our work abroad, sometimes engaged missions, others on our own.
In OTTAWA CANADA, working with UGANDAN HIGH COMMISSION IN CANADA, we exhibited at OTTAWA MARATHON.
Close to 75k people came by or near our stand, we served 1000s of cups of UGANDAN COFFEE. Anybody who tested the coffee asked where they can buy Ugandan coffee. We didn’t prepare for that.
I must say, if we had had say a full container of coffee outside, we would have sold all the coffee. Serving coffee was a draw for a discussion about Uganda.
I told you, because of coffee the top guys of OTTAWA MARATHON and TORONTO MARATHON visited and sat with me for around an each. We discussed collaboration!
I thought about other Ugandan products like Jackfruits, our pineapples etc and the exposure they would get at such events, our attractions too!
SOUTH AFRICA - COMRADE RACE OR MARATHON
The owner of RUKUNDO coffee turned up and helped serve coffee, she sold all the coffee and sent for more from Johannesburg and again sold everything.
Amb
@AmoruPaul helped to make sure more coffee arrived for sale and this wasn’t planned, it just happened, can you imagine what would happen if it’s well planned?
I love the fact that some embassies are seeing our vision and where we can take Uganda and its products. Many people never imagined what events like the COMRADES can do for business?
I also envision Uganda having a stand at the 8 world majors( top 8 marathons around the world), positioning our country and its products, properly well planned?
You don’t just get runners and buyers of coffee for example alone, you get massive attention. Last week, Uganda, Rwenzori marathon and uganda high commission got massive attention in South Africa.
An average person doesn’t wake up and travel distances for running, it’s mainly those with means that travel for such events and rich people have embraced the exercising culture.
When businesses thrive, jobs are the results and when people have jobs, less human rights abuse. If you hate human rights abuses, be one of those that can create jobs.
You won’t find a person working with say Great Lakes safaris or Great Lakes collection involved in stoning an innocent person. They will be busy working and thinking about the future.
Countries with less unemployment challenges generally speaking have less human rights abuses. By being an entrepreneur, you automatically become a solution.
