šŸ“½ļø WATCH | Next week, the Department of Education will launch the new Northern Ireland Curriculum for public consultation. Teachers, subject leaders and academics have been central to shaping it, with 13 subject working groups coming together to develop plans for what will be taught in each subject. We've been speaking to some of those involved to hear more about their experiences and hopes for the new curriculum. šŸ‘‰ Watch to find out more. @lucy_crehan @Counsell_C

facebook.com/share/r/1C5M7JG… Teaching: art form or science? It’s undoubtedly BOTH. Teaching is more than imparting knowledge. It is greater than the sum of its parts & certainly not painting by numbers! @Education_NI @Ed_Authority @tgeducation @DrWHKitchen #TransformED

facebook.com/share/r/1FoYLb… Real reform builds on success. TransformED risks breaking strong parts of NI education while chasing theory over practice — exactly the mistake Ken Robinson cautions against. #EducationNI @Education_NI #TransformED

Sobering reading. Highlights exactly why NI must avoid repeating England’s mistakes: ideological reforms, diminished teacher professionalism, & policy made above the heads of those who deliver it. We need open, honest, locally grounded conversations, not pre-packaged solutions.

Workload was the core issue & still is. Hoping this deal sticks but does more than a band-aid re workload. Timeframes for delivery of reforms in place & November will also come around fast. Thank you to the various unions who have risked their credibility on accepting this deal
We welcome the deal to end industrial action. Read the full press statement šŸ‘‡ naht.org.uk/News/Latest-comm…

43,522 teachers left the profession last year. The government’s plan to recruit 6,500 new ones is nowhere near enough. Rachel Reeves had the chance to give schools the funding they urgently need in her spring Statement. She didn’t. Vote now to send the government a message that our current education system is not working and needs to be prioritised.šŸ‘‰ NEUActivate.com #FundFairPay #SaveOurSchools

USA vs NI ā€œI Get Paid for 180 Days of Work Each Year, but I Actually Work More Than 250.ā€ (USA) NI teachers work 195. ā€œHours of Instruction in the Classroom: 1,170ā€ NI teachers 1,265. Image below relates to US. NI & GB would be at least equivalent if not significantly more

One benefit of being a veteran teacher, is you can remember the good ideas before some academics & politicians branded them ā€˜bad ideas’ & removed them, only to now reintroduce as ā€˜good ideas’. I believe in a knowledge rich curriculum but how will @Educ_NI free teachers to teach

If only @Education_NI @Ed_Authority could see further than the end of their own noses, they might realise that teachers wanting WORKLOAD dynamically addressed is actually them WANTING to deliver for children: providing deep & focussed provision. Teaching is our CORE business. 3/3
