(6/🧵) Still, the overall direction is clear. Between ECFR’s last poll in November 2025 and this new one in May 2026, publics in most states have shifted in favour of increased defence spending. In some places there is also new openness to a European nuclear deterrent.
(7/7) Taken together, these findings tell a story of a mature and realistic European electorate—in several ways a few steps ahead of their leaders. They challenge leaders to catch up and adapt.
