What?
πŸ—žοΈEverton have even looked at converting Tyler Dibling to a central striker but he prefers to take his chances from the wing. (Source - @MailSport )

Much better profile than Hackney and could maybe help Dibling settle? Just an idea.
Everton have also considered Southampton’s Shea Charles as they look to strengthen their midfield [@David_Ornstein]

I don't even see how we spend the money that Ndiaye would bring in. Struggling to find DM/RB/LWs that are above Β£30-35m that would actually join. Now that's not the case for all positions, but those are the needs. I do think it's the right time to sell though, it's a tough one.
EXCL: Everton face a fight to keep hold of Iliman Ndiaye this summer. New contract(s) has been on table for months but remains unsigned Forward has 3 years remaining on current deal, so #EFC in strong position. Desire to keep key man @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7326538…

And yet it would get absolutely ran through. The problem being, it's very hard to quantify positioning using event data.
Hayden Hackney x Tim Iroegbunam would be about as complimentary a data pairing as you could find

Expected to target a goalscoring winger β€” most likely on the right. And yet nothing on Dibling in the loan section... Just killing the development of one of your biggest assets.
Everton targeting a right-back, central midfielder & at least one winger this summer Early interest in Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney for CM Expected to be open to offers for several fringe players Summer window preview @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7315459…

It's like we're collecting guys who're the more advanced of a two in a pivot/midfield three. Garner/KDH/RΓΆhl/Iroegbunam/Armstrong. We need a 6.
Potential to be a good player of course but this is one of those examples where good scouting β‰  good recruitment. Does Hackney fit the profile of midfielder Everton need? Brings more control in possession but lacks physicality and doesn't have the defensive nous of a true 6.

Hackney’s preference is to join Everton, and, as things stand, it puts them in pole position to secure the former England Under-21 international midfielder [@David_Ornstein]

Signing the championship young/player of the season is never a bad transfer strategy though if you can't be bothered to do any actual scouting.

Things the club can be working on before we consider any potential world cup ramifications (i.e. Ndiaye strong tournament and wanting out) Sign an attacking RB Sign a true no.6 Assess Tim's contract situation, potentially sell Sell Alcaraz/take up his option and send him on loan

If Ndiaye stays, bring in an attacking LB ready to start, loan Aznou. Sign George or another versatile attacker. If Ndiaye goes, sign a left winger with pace who can create the sorts of chances that Barry/Beto thrive off. Consider wing depth and make decisions on George/McNeil.

Peak starting at 23? Assuming players in different positions peak at similar times? Either way it's obvious to see who's needed to lean on older players to get performance out of their team.

Here we go... A guy who's 28, not good enough to start and on mega wages. Don't think he fits the profile of what we need either.
Everton have targeted Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a Β£10m deal as clubs circle around West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League. West Ham need to raise around Β£150m in player sales to balance the books, with relegation alone costing the club Β£100m. @mcgrathmike has the full story ‡️ telegraph.co.uk/sport/2026/0…

Hopefully the lesson they learn from this is: A) bringing in managers who drive up the value of non-dominant squads leads to better recruitment and performance and not B) giving an older manager the keys to recruitment works

Here's a look at Moyes' last 3 tenures at clubs. Strong starts followed by gradual declines after that. Best season at West Ham by far 20/21, their last season under him with no European football alongside league fixtures. By the end things got very very rough.
