Dry lie- Burren's 700m-thick limestone bedrock upon which the cattle outwinter, acts like a storage heater, absorbing summer heat, releasing it over winter. Thin soils which cloak this bedrock rarely get muddy, hence the clean appearance of outwintering stock #FarmingHeritage

I’ve just done a quick calculation and the total ground area of our hedgerow is over 5.5 acres, and because we don’t flail most of them, the canopy cover will be at least double that.
A valuable, important habitat for mammals, birds, invertebrates, mosses, lichens & wildflowers.
