Glad to work with @EMDocinTraining & @AChouMD to update work on ED use of urinary catheters. In NHAMCS, we showed the huge stride EM has made in ⬇️⬇️urinary catheter use. And doing so despite increased patient complexity and care intensity. @EmergencyDocs ⬇️CAUTIs

Between 2002 and 2019, urinary catheter use in US emergency departments overall and among hospitalized patients decreased by more than half, with much of the decline attributed to the decrease in catheter use without @CDCgov indications. ja.ma/3B938Cr #Research
