ER team, please remember that our patients cannot see their family docs for two weeks with the holidays. Please give a decent sick note and extended prescriptions so they don’t have to come back mid break. Decrease the pressure on our EDs for the next two weeks.

Everything I have ever accomplished as a physician has been witnessed/supported/celebrated/commiserated/accomplished because of our incredible emergency nurses. Every emergency physician would not be here with out you and I am eternally grateful.

Slept wrong on my neck somehow and my kid kicked me in the spine all night. Safe to say my spine is broken and will never be fixed. Try your best not drive in my passenger side blind spot for the remainder of 2021 to mid 2022 because I can’t look there.

The emotional spectrum of this job is wild sometimes. Start with a cancer diagnosis in a young patient, walk out of the room, and immediately try to prevent a nude drunk patient from pulling a fully inflated catheter out of his penis in the middle of the hallway.

I hear a lot of unvaccinated people argue that the survival rate of covid is 99.7%. What surviving can look like is a father with two small children who walked out of the ICU but has to be supervised making eggs and taking transit because of the strokes he had from Covid.
