Congrats @SenSaraGelser for passing #NCSLSummit resolution to pass bipartisan federal law to protect kids in congregate care. Sen Gelser Blouinās hard work on this has resulted in big changes to shutter horrible facilities claiming to help vulnerable kids

Extensive conversations @HuntEarlyEd#ECPA22 about expanding access to #childcare incl provider education, increased pay esp for in-home providers. All of Oregon qualifies as infant/toddler childcare desert. Nationally >40% in-home providers quit BEFORE pandemic, then more during
Improved access to affordable, quality childcare critically important for child well-being, economic development, decreasing family stress, etc. Studies suggest national loss of >$57B/year due to inadequate childcare.
Dr. Jack Shonkoff, @HarvardCenter for the Developing Child reminds us we have to allow failure, new ideas, longer term outcome measures in early childhood interventions just as we do in business innovation.
Iāve been participating in @HuntEarlyEd Early Childhood Policy Fellowship this year & now at convening for whole cohort. Great to be with so many others committed to improving the lives & futures of our youngest Americans.
