The threat of severe weather in the northeastern U.S. today is a good reminder to think about how to stay safe while attending outdoor events when storms threaten. Don’t let lightning catch you off guard. ⚡Follow the 30-minute rule: wait at least half an hour after you see lightning or hear thunder before heading back outside. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

It's C! Remain in your shelter for at least 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder or flash of lightning. Why? Lighting can strike long before rain starts or after it’s ended; up to 10 miles from the storm!
