4 years ago, the UK government left the #EU. 4 years later on 31.01. 2024 after almost 31 years, I am retiring @EU_Commission . My sadness is the opportunity I had is no longer available to #Scots or to other #UK citizens. To work together as an EU team to strive for a better EU.

For millions of children living in areas affected by conflict and violence, childhood is disrupted by fear, loss, and suffering. On the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, we reiterate that minors deserve protection, safety, and access to the care and support they need to recover, grow, and build a better future.

Today, we sanctioned extremist settlers in the West Bank for their violations of human rights. They undermine the two-state solution, a prospect that is increasingly under threat. We defend international law. We act for peace. We support the two-state solution. Read more: link.europa.eu/XfVmYW

Yes, undoubtedly. We are European. Our peace and security are reliant on being part of the European community of nations - particularly now the US cannot be relied on as a NATO partner. Economically, rejoining makes perfect sense, since Brexit, GDP has been reduced by 4% etc 👇👇

Today marks 77 years of the Council of Europe 🎉 Since 1949, it has united 46 countries around human rights, democracy and the rule of law, creating a common legal space for 700 million people. 77 years of human rights in practice.

What have renewables ever done for us? Well, EU electricity prices are 24% lower than they would be had we not embarked on the clean energy transition. 24% savings on top of co-benefits for the planet, for our health and for nature. Win-win-win-win. euobserver.com/212892/wind-a…

Fantastic news: Erasmus will bring young people from the UK and EU together again 🇪🇺🇬🇧I studied in Edinburgh – and it changed everything ❤️💙 Why? Several years ago, I wrote it down. ⬇️
After sending the letter about Erasmus for Scotland and Wales, so many memories of my time in Edinburgh have come back to my mind. I thought I could share some of them to explain why I am so passionate about the Erasmus debate. Why this programme actually matters so much to me.

Amid continued vandalism, thefts and arson, Israeli settlers demolished an EU-funded school in the West Bank. Over 40 children lost their right to education. Their community was forced to flee, fearing for their lives. The EU demands accountability and respect for IHL.

This alone is more money than the US ever spent in Ukraine
Deadlock over. The EU just cleared the way for the €90-billion-loan for Ukraine and the 20th sanctions package. Russia’s war economy is under growing strain, while Ukraine is getting a major boost. We will provide Ukraine what it needs to hold its ground, until Putin understands his war leads nowhere.
