Increase reimbursements for high-cost special education placements, districts are now only getting reimbursed for about half of their eligible costs 2. Increase investments in the NJ Department of Education’s Division of Early Childhood Education to assist new and existing preschool programs 3. Provide additional funding for school construction and urgently needed repairs in the state’s highest-poverty school districts 4. Add flexibility to the 2% property tax cap for districts that are raising less than their local fair share and have the capacity to close funding gaps

A little known fact about the Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill is that it creates a national voucher program. Their voucher scheme helps funnel taxpayer dollars into private schools, including religious schools, which lack accountability, transparency, and civil rights protections.
