I don't believe that 'severe' or 'low fuctioning' #autism are actual things. Neither is 'Mild' autism and 'High fuctioning' isn't helpful because it doesn't describe needs and difficulties that autism causes. We are mech better off stating co-concurring diagnosis such as LD/ ID.

I'm hoping to rebuild the #ActuallyAutistic community up on post.news You can find me @jimmyd Post is worth the wait. Simple to use and so far non-toxic. Since there are less than 1/2 million users, traffic is calm and lots of cute pets!

Anyway, there is a chance to connect to the wider #disability / #neurodiversity community and #autism and #autistic are autistic friendly. Lack of numbers means there is less of other intersections too, but we can build for #AllAutistics now. Also connect with your spec ints.

@Ord_Off Hi Rebecca and Dave. I think we need another way to follow you all. Twitter has just got too toxic for me. What's the best place to look for you?

Dear #ActuallyAutistic and other neurokin. This app is getting worse and worse. With the lifting of the misinformation ban, antivaxxers are being given a free pass. The ableism that comes with that means it isn't a safe place for #autistic people. Time to go. #autism.

If being neurodivergent makes us Superman, then the world is our Kryptonite. #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD #NeurodivergentSquad #Neurodiversity #Autism
In our culture, neurodivergency is looked at as something that needs fixing. These traits are actually superpowers: ability to focus deeply on things that interest you, ability to see patterns, ability to know when you’ve had enough and reached your limit.

Is Boris a synonym for oblivion now?
I backed @trussliz against Rishi & am v sorry for her. She tried to do right things & unleashed same kind of coup Boris faced. But to me only sensible course of action now is to Bring Back Boris. I will be fully supporting his return. MPs must understand: it’s Boris or oblivion.

I think the argument that #autistic/ other neurodivergent people that hide their conditions are actually costly. Part of that cost is not being provided with the suppprt to reach their full potential because they're too busy surviving in unfavourable conditions. Also burning out.

A recent study showed 1/5 of people referred to #psychiatry OPDs are #actuallyautistic. If your clinical experience is that this is much lower, you’re probably missing #autism in your patients. This 🧡 will explain why that’s a problem, why it happens, and how to stop 1/35

Bearing in mind I only had an autism dx at 46 and no real support since it's really hard to know what will make a difference. Like explain autistic: masking, burnout, exec function, complex interaction between other dx that you don't have formal dx for to someone whose clueless.
