“I have issues with them, the @PoliceUg. Some of them were not listening. You tell them, ‘Don’t do this, don’t do this,’ and later you hear they have gone ahead and done exactly that...You remember, I would call them here and ask, ‘Gentlemen, what happened?’ At one point, they denied me information. What they did not know is that I am an intelligence officer. Everything that was happening, I knew"- @otafiire_k 👉bit.ly/3Sil20A #MonitorUpdates

Looking at the demolitions that took place in Lubigi, the Stabex head offices were left untouched. In Busabala, a large hotel was also left standing. It appears that the exercise is less about restoring the wetland and more about targeting a particular group of people- @ShamimNambassa #MorningAtNTV

Uganda’s fear of poisoning is an interesting one. People fear poison both from their own and from without. So pervasive is the fear that even water served in media studios often remains untouched. Some media houses avoid serving anything, lest they make their guests uncomfortable. Sometimes a fan sees you on a talkshow with water in front of you and they immediately text you: ‘Spire don’t drink that water please and don’t speak close to the microphone’. Even at workplaces, many can’t eat what they haven’t served themselves from a common serving point or moved with. What are we really becoming! What is causing this environment? #WhatDiedWhenWeLived

We say no and we mean it. Have some humor, you cant pretend not to know how demanding the medical school is and what a medical intern life looks like. And then come with such a policy and say they should not get even ugx. 5000 #PayAllMedicalInterns #SaveLives

Hi friends. I am well now and safely back home. Immigration officers in Amsterdam looked at me and thought I can’t have a genuine passport. They hadn’t even opened it. Held me back for so long apparently “verifying” my passport that I missed my flight. When I told them to check the passport because it has stamps and visas, they said those can be forged too. I have passed through Schiphol airport over 10 times if they had cared to look at the passport and checked my name in the system whatever doubts they had would have been cleared without undue delay and anguish. Anyway, they finished “verifying” long after the plane had left said I should be grateful they are getting me another “free flight” like they had found me stranded without a flight back home. When the “free flight” they got me was 24 hours later, they told me to either wait at the airport or figure out where to spend the next 24 hours. No explanation. No remorse. No apology. I don’t know if it was the anger or anxiety that made it very difficult to breathe or even utter a word and caused me a breakdown.. but it is very unfortunate that in 2026 there are people that still simply look at others and assume they are fraudsters or something. Luckily, good friends came to my rescue and also redeemed the reputation of the Dutch just a bit.. thanks @klup and Marnix🙏 we have already filed a complaint and raised the issue in many fora. I hope that at the very least they never racially profile any other person like that again.

An Ebola ‘Conspiracy’?: Why is Uganda Blacklisted While DR Congo Where It Originated Gets a Pass? It’s very difficult to get agreement on anything in politically polarised Uganda, but there is a rare growing consensus in the country that a "conspiracy" at play against it regarding the latest Ebola outbreak. As is often the case, the virus originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where 452 confirmed cases, 1,000 suspected cases, and 82 deaths have been recorded - before spilling over into Uganda. Uganda has registered 15 cases and just ONE (1) death, a 59-year-old Congolese man who had come into the country from the DRC. This is where it gets strange. Despite this disparity, western governments have issued over a dozen strict travel advisories specifically targeting Uganda, far eclipsing those levied against the DRC, and even suspension of visas!!!. This has prompted Ugandan politicians and social media users to rail against them and sections of international media like Al Jazeera for "bundling Uganda with Congo" and treating the two as a single entity. The situation in Kenya might throw some light on the Uganda case. Protests erupted in Nanyuki, in the mountainous central region of the country, over a proposed US Ebola quarantine facility at Laikipia Air Base. This backdrop lends some credence to a disclosure from an authoritative Nairobi-based journalist who said: "We hear the US initially approached Uganda, which possesses the continent’s finest technical expertise on Ebola. Kampala refused, stating, 'We are too busy managing the spillover from Congo'." If Kampala did indeed rebuff Washington, it is confounding given the Ugandan government’s long history of subservience to US interests. Yet, it might explain why conspiracy theories are thriving. Kampala likely suspects it is being internationally penalised for refusing to fall in line and serve as an Ebola "leper colony". What is clear is how anomalous it is for a nation with minor spillover cases to be treated as the primary medical pariah.

"Ministry of Justice gives Sudhir Ruparelia 450 million shillings in rent. The Ministry of ICT gives Sudhir 320 million. The Ministry of Gender at Simbamanyo pays Sudhir 250 million. The Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo gives Sudhir 180 million shillings per month. The Ministry of East African Affairs pays Sudhir 280 million shillings at Kingdom. The Equal Opportunities Commission pays Sudhir 86 million shillings at Kingdom. Ministry of Internal Affairs pays another 60 million shillings because of some other small departments. Parliament of Uganda pays 860 million shillings to Sudhir every month. Presidential advisors, these ones, Amelia Kyambadde, Kintu, Sara Kyingi, who sit at Kingdom, every month they pay 66 million shillings in rent. Uganda Revenue Authority pays Sudhir 300 million shillings for a warehouse on Kampala Road. The Electoral Commission pays 300 million shillings to Sudhir for a warehouse in Ntinda. Which means, if you total this, that every month government pays Sudhir every month 2.9 billion shillings. Which translates into 97 million shillings per day, and 4 million shillings per hour, and 600,000 per minute. So every minute, Sudhir collects 600,000 from government" This data was spoken by Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda sometime back.

I worked with @SueNsibirwa btn 2011-2019 as her supervisor when she headed our marketing function. Not once was she ever apprehended as a suspect in or charged with a criminal offense. In fact, she left two years before me with her record of high integrity & stellar performance. I am certain that her current employer would have done a due diligence before entrusting her with her present role. If what is being said about her now were true it would have come out long ago from more credible sources.

Let us be honest: the issue is not that medical interns are too many. It is not that Uganda has no money. It is that medical interns are not being treated as a priority. Consider the choices being made: • Parliament keeps growing. Parliament’s budget reportedly doubled to about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭. 𝟮 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻. The money going to 529 MPs rose from about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟰𝟬𝟬𝗯 in 2020/21 to 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟳𝟰𝟰.𝟰𝗯 in 2026/27, an increase of about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟯𝟰𝟰.𝟰𝗯. What direct return does this give the common Ugandan in a crowded hospital? • Two offices alone tell the story. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker offices had about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟳.𝟭𝗯 combined in 2020/21. In 2026/27, they stand at about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟱𝟬.𝟮𝗯 , an increase of about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟰𝟯.𝟭𝗯 for only two offices. That increase alone can pay 𝟯𝟬𝟬𝟬 interns 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭𝗺 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, with money left. • Questionable spending continues. In 2025/26, selected Speaker’s office lines reportedly included 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟮.𝟰𝗯 for foreign travel, 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟵𝟲𝟲𝗺 for fuel, 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟰.𝟴𝗯 for incapacity, death benefits and funeral expenses, and 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟱.𝟮𝗯 for donations. Total: about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭𝟰.𝟮𝗯. What lasting public health return does this produce compared with doctors on wards? • RDC structures are being funded. Uganda reportedly has 146 RDCs, 170 Deputy RDCs and 432 Assistant RDCs, total 748 officials. Their proposed salary enhancement requires an extra 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟮𝟵.𝟬𝟳𝟵𝗯 every year. Add the reported 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟯𝟬𝗯 for LC I to LC V political leader facilitation, and that is about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟱𝟵𝗯. In what way does this benefit the common Ugandan? • Donations are funded. State House donations reportedly consumed 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟳𝟱𝟭𝗯 over seven financial years. In 2023/24 alone, donations were budgeted at 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭𝟴.𝟭𝗯, but actual spending reached 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟴𝟬.𝟭𝟴𝗯. If tens and hundreds of billions can be found for donations, how does 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟮𝟰𝗯 to 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟯𝟲𝗯 for over 2,000 medical interns become impossible? • Health was not protected with the same urgency. The Ministry of Health vote fell from about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭. 𝟲𝟵𝟯 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 in FY2023/24 to about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭. 𝟯𝟰𝟰 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 in FY2024/25, a reduction of about 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟯𝟰𝟵𝗯. Even the 2025/26 estimate of 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟭.𝟱𝟲𝟰 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 remains below the 2023/24 level. Yet health is the sector that directly touches mothers in labour, accident victims, children with malaria, emergency patients and families in public hospitals. Now compare: • 2,000 interns × Shs1m × 12 months = 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟮𝟰𝗯 per year • 2,500 interns × Shs1m × 12 months = 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟯𝟬𝗯 per year • 3,000 interns × Shs1m × 12 months = 𝗦𝗵𝘀 𝟯𝟲𝗯 per year Even using the Ministry of Health’s own gross figure of Shs15.6m per intern per year, the reported 2,706 eligible interns would require about Shs42.2b. That is still small compared with what is being found for political comfort and administrative expansion. That money is not a handout. ✨ It avails doctors on wards. ✨ It keeps emergency units covered. ✨ It supports maternity care. ✨ It fills staffing gaps in regional referrals. ✨ It protects patients. So let us stop pretending. This is not a numbers problem. This is not a money problem. It is a priority problem. Medical interns are doctors under apprenticeship, not free labour! #InternsNotSlaves

In a place of surrendered trust, you stop manipulating your prayers to get your own will done, and instead you open yourself for God to solve the problem in His way, in His time, for His glory. Today, you step aside- you move out of the way, and let God be the One who defines what help is and how it comes. Come to Him honestly, with nothing but a humble plea: “God, just help me.”
