Should religion make us uncomfortable in politics?
In this week’s episode of the “Deseret Voices” podcast, @mckaycoppins and @CTmagazine's @drmoore discuss why our faith shouldn’t fit perfectly into a political party. It should put politics in its proper perspective.

Generative AI has legitimate uses and I’m not saying there aren’t tangentially helpful things people can use it for, but worship and theology are NOT those things
Idk why he deleted this. People can say (and do) reprehensible things without repentance, but because they jangle the name of Jesus around we applaud that they’re bearing witness to the Gospel rather than taking God’s name in vain
Going back to this: the singing of TikTok replies is only noteworthy/funny because it took human effort to compose the replies together into a cohesive song. The time involved is part of the joke.
If it’s just getting spit out by a machine we might as well look at screenshots of the replies in dead silence.
These are jangling keys at their lowest form. Self-indulgent and useless
Annual conference is great because church leaders across the region get to come together, encourage one another, and see the work of the Gospel in communities outside themselves. Gathering together like this is a great salve for internet dooming on current Church woes
Thought I would support a local coffee shop and buy grounds from him cause he had said he was struggling. $28 for 12oz hit the register screen like 10,000 nuclear bombs
evangelicalism has a weird relationship with its own values these days. simultaneously passing harsh judgement on sinners but also giving passes whenever the politics are right
Just to be clear
- no I don’t think we should be judging harsher
- yes I think we should hold fast to our values, like the sacredness of marriage
- it’s the hypocrisy and double mindedness that seems mostly driven by political interests that gets me
Was fascinating to learn that he and other TikTok artists will write and release hooks to see if they go viral. If they do he’ll end up finishing the song.
Pop crave is almost certainly participating in clip money astroturfing by posting the hook
